Ive looked high and low and noone seems to make them anymore. What does everyone use? Unless I'm mis-informed it seems that running a 110 unit with an inverter is an unnecessary power drain if youre on 12 volts for an extended period of time.

I had a really nice 13" tv/vcr unit that I sold with my last rv thinking it would be easy to replace. Not the case. Advice? What am I missing here?

Tube tvs and vcrs are on the way out. Sorry, but I think you're better off with an LCD and an inverter. An inverter adds maybe a 1-3% overhead on power use.

Maybe someone else will have better news.

Look for TVs made by Audiovox. Picked up a 15"LCD with DVD player, run on 120vac or 12vdc with a cigarette lighter adapter(thats included).

Check out some of your local truck stops. Truckers use 12volt tv's and everything else.

I think I still have the same 13 inch TV/VCR you are referring to. I would be more than willing to give it to you next time I come down to the San Diego area. (spring 2009)

However, look into an LCD TV, they draw far less current than old CRT TV's and an inverter can handle that quite nicely. It would actually be less drain on your battery than your old TV. it will also use up less real estate. In fact depending on your layout, you may be able to build it into a kitchen door like mine.

Heads up, Guys. Don't buy any new TV unless it has a digital tuner in it. If you are using over the air signals with an external antenna the analog signals will disappear in Feb 2009 and your new TV won't work without a digital adaptor or cable/satellite receiver. Especially in an RV you need to consider this.
