Hello everyone,

Hope you all had a Great and Merry Christmas and 2008 will be a fine new year for you.

My question is a simple one: We just got tickets for the AAA 500 at the Calif Speedway for the weekend of 22-24 of Feb. 2008. Our campsite is located outside in a parking lot near turn one. Has anyone stayed in this setting before? Do you have any suggestions /tips /tricks. Are there pumping services available? How's getting out after Sundays race.

Any insights would help.

Thanks,

Hap

We are camping in the infield but we had asked about those spots outside and we were told they do have the tank trucks come by there for water and sewer. Getting out after the race takes a while as they let the vehicles in the parking lot out first. You have only one way to get to the fwy once you are out as well with all the road blocks.

Macs Dad,

Thanks for the infor. I think we'll plan to spend the night after the Sunday race if we don't get thrown out. The last time I was in this area for a race was the California 500 (which in the 70's was indy cars). I know - its not the same raceway.

No problem. Ya we usally spend the night and leave in the AM next day or just leave the trailer infield and pick it up the next day as we are very close to the track.

Camping spot's OUTSIDE the track ??? This is the first I've heard of those. I've never seen trailers parked out in the parking lot.
Ummm..... have to check into that if that's the case.

The additional spots are in a seperate fenced off spot on the west side of the west side parking lot. They actually are not in the parking lot but real close. Right next to it. Think they have shuttle service as well.

juzplanekrazy,

I found the first offer from Camping world. It included 4 nights RV site, tickets to all races for two people and pit passes. There were some promotional offers also. When I checked on this I found the seats were not that great and couldn't be upgraded.

I then found a similar offer from the AAA. The seats were MUCH better but you didn't get the promotional stuff. As we have five in our group, the better tickets sealed the deal for us.

Camping, BBQ, beer, and racing, 2008 is getting off to a great start !!!

The raceway has similar package deals as well. Not sure what the cost is though. You can go to Calforniaraceway.com to check. Just FYI.
