I agree that this is a good thing and will probably put it on my list of things to buy (even though we don't do rallys, tailgating, etc...yet). BUT: what do Onan etc say about using one? I think the answer is "no", but welcome definitive words to the contrary.

I have notice that Bluebird uses a exhaust pipe for the engine and another one for the gen. that goes up through the roof. Wonder how they get by with it? Considering all the afforementioned back pressure. This eliminates the need for any additonal items. Looks like a good idea to me.

It is possible that Bluebird actually has a figure on allowable back pressure. Onan will not share that information with the public. I never heard so much waffling and weaseling in my life as when I tried to get a figure from supposed "engineers" and an Onan exhibition. They did give me a hat or a night light or something, though.

A larger diameter pipe has less back pressure, so maybe that is how they do it.

I don't know what Onan says about using a Gen-Turi, but most of my RVing is at dog shows, where I'm parked in close quarters with other RVs. Everyone's show dogs spend a good bit of time in exercise pens between the RVs, and without a GenTuri I'd be gassing either my dogs or a neighbor's. Either way I'd be VERY unpopular, and depending on the show, might be asked to leave. In any case, that exhaust gives me a horrible headache if I'm stuck breathing it, and I wouldn't inflict it on anybody else.

My biggest concern with a homemade version would probably be the additional weight that would bear down on the generator's exhaust and the potential that over time it would loosen or break a seal somewhere. Probably is more dependent on how you mount the pipe, but if weight bearing at the bottom I'd be concerned.

I too can't believe that the manufacturers haven't built most coaches with it routed to the roof already... but then again, somebody must make money for all the aftermarket products that seem like a no-brainer to add on for a few bucks compared to what our rigs cost.

I have a list of must-buy stuff that was nearly $3,000 and didn't include any nice-to-have stuff.

I built my up pipe using aluminum gutter downspout. Much ligher than PVC or
ABS thin walled pipe.Painted it to match coach colors.Total cost about $20.
