Nope... They F'ed up. You should have a restriction 41 on your license, but if they just "gave" you a class A without all the medical and driving tests... good for you. The new license should have printed on the back:
"41. May tow fifth wheel recreational trailer between 10,001 and 15,000 pounds GVWR"
It took me a few trips and two DMV's to help them learn their jobs.

Well just got back from taking my Restriction 41 test pretty easy 20 questions. Nobody there new about the test I had to show them from the book I downloaded. They were looking for a sticker for the back couldn't find one.....so they said I needed a new licence.. Had to have my picture taken..but I noticed now on my temporary it says Class A.... is that right?

you might get lucky, my permanent one says "rstr: 41" on the bottom and on the back is: "may tow fifth wheel recreational trailer between 10,001 and 15,000 pounds GVWR"

Maybe they'll issue you a non-commercial class A!

I had the same thing when I went to Covina DMV until I found "the guy" that knew all about it. Piece of cake after that. Did they want to charge you the fee to take the test? They tried that with me until I showed them in the booklet where it said it was free.

Your trailers GVWR is 16K so you would need the Class A non-commerical CDL. I just bought the same trailer and need to get the license as well.

I was in Pismo last week and am not sure if I am over or not.

The law says a Class C license can drive up to a 40 foot 5'er and/or up to 15K pounds. I attached the CA DMV link in case I am missing something.

I have a Fuzion 362 which is 38 feet. Not sure where my weight stickers are as I just got it.

Two questions:

Am I legal, and where do they put the weight sticker?

I was just talking to my CHP buddy this weekend at a graduation party. I mentioned to him that I still haven't got a Noncommercial Class A. He gave this piece of free advice. If you get pulled over, don't mention the Noncomm Class A requirement because the majority of CHP don't know about it. Of course, he also told me to get off my lazy backside and get the proper license.

I would be careful with that Class A, you cannot go to traffic school to keep violations off your record if you have one. Does not matter at all what vehicle you are driving.

That is only true for the Commercial Class A. With the non-commmercial class A your fine.
