O.K. I know of those out there that have ever traveled to the south in the summer, i.e. Texas, Louisiana, Florida, have had the 'Love Bug' experience. Before the next 'bug' season, I was trying to come up with some kind of cover for the fiver cap while traveling. I thought about trying some of those small hooks that have the 3M adhesive that you just pull down to remove. (I'm sure you've seen these on the television ads) I thought about getting a nylon cloth and installing grommets that would fit on the hooks, maybe with the help of bungee cords to stretch across the front cap. It could be removed and washed in the house hold washing machine.
Any ideas out there? Or maybe there's already some products that work.

Thanks......Skip

Good question. Sounds like a business opportunity for somebody to make "tear off's" like they use on race car windshields.

You know.. people are amazed when they watch me clean off the bugs with a wet bounce sheet. For me it's the easiest way.. no fuss no worry and very cheap.. when you get where you're going.. wet a sheet.. wipe it.. rinse it.. Done. Anything else would involve a whole lot of either Cost or effort. You'd have to either replace the disposable sollution over time or you'd have to wash the cover if it wasn't disposable so why bother?

I am against anything that comes into contact with paint and can trap dirt or dust and vibrate\move. It tends to do more damage than it prevents.. My exp. and my 2 cents :-|

I second the bounce sheets also!! I save the used ones from the laundry and they do not work too bad either.

I wish I had the link still. Somebody does make em all ready. For TT's, 5er's, and Mh's.

Try RainX bug & tar shield, it sprays on and creates a clear shield and then you simply use a wet sponge to remove the bugs. I have used it for thousands of miles on both truck and cap with no problem. Since you typically can't wash an RV in the park, each night with a small bucket of water i remove the bugs and spray for the next day.

I thought about a roll of carpet or floor shield self adhering film that is for temporary carpet protection but haven't tried it yet.

I just looked at a company called surface shield inc. They have a film called Transit Shield. The RV store nearby can order it for me it is about $60.00 a roll for 36"Wx32'L
