We encountered some road debris and it appears that I lost the exhaust tip about 400 miles back. Is there any where I can get one of these or is there an after market solution?

Should be a 3" pipe. Try a truck stop or Canadian tire.

Should I just put a Chrome tip on it? What about the exhaust cooling that the other tip had or is it even necessary?

Do you have a 2007 engine with the wide flared exhaust. If you do you may have to contact a dealer. Should be under warranty on a 2007.

Yes it was but I am sure that road hazard will not be warranted, was does that tip actually do?

It's part of the emission system. I believe it spreads heat when the particle filter is regenerated (not sure what the proper terms are). Stops weeds or anything else near exhaust from catching fire.

I do not know. But whatever it is in USA. It will be at least double in Canada.

ronfisherman is right, it is part of the emissions system on post 2007 Kodiak diesels. The exhaust filter (PDF) automatically regenerates (cleans) using VERY high exhaust temperatures. I don't think a regular exhaust tip would do.
