We pour Pine Sol and some Ivory liguid in the black tank then turn on the flush system for a few minutes, then empty and let it rinse for a while. Usually will clean the sensors pretty good. Then a small amt in the tank with a couple gallons of water and it smells much better.

My wife used to put Pine-Sol in the black tank, but after having to replace the toilet valve AND the black tank drain valve (no fun at all) I never let her use it again!

We use it in both tanks, haven't seen any problems from it yet.

I have always, for 25 plus years, used Pinesol in the holding tanks. About 2ounces in the gray tank after I flush, and about 4 ounces with a gallon of water in the black tank when it will sit for a long time. It works for me, and I have never had a seal problem. As for how I got the idea...my wife said to do it, and it was done without question. Happily married for 40 years.

I pour in a cup of that and a couple of gallons of water after each dump and cleaning, into each gray tank. Black gets it's own treatment. I figure that way it sloshes around in there going down the road and all ways smells better than doing nothing.

I tried it after reading about it on this forum. Worst thing I've ever tried, bar none.

Maybe it's because the bio action in the FL heat is much worse than other states, dunno. But 24 hours after pouring this in, the stink was unbearable. Pine scented poop. Argh!

I've tried a number of chemicals, and the only thing I've found that works effectively during the Summer are those with Formaldehyde. They stop the production of the bugs causing the stink.

Might be fine for flushing & cleaning a tank, but I wouldn't recommend it for odor control, at least not in a hot climate. But don't take my word for it, try it yourself. Just have something stronger on hand if it fails you.

2manytoyz is correct about using it in the heat, it does produce an overwhelming stench, a pine tree in your toilet... Just use tide and some bleach. That will clean it without all the odors... Then just use tide all the time instead of chemicals, you won't need to "freshen up" your tank every again... http://cbruni.googlepages.com/

Must have put too much in or not put five gallons of water in first. I live in Florida and have used PineSol for years and I think it works great. My tanks are so clean, they look new inside.

We use a capful of liquid water softener and 2 oz. of Pure Power. Have done so on all our RVs over the years. Never any smells, bad or otherwise, and never had a clog problem, either. The sensors work fine all the time.

Pure Power liquefies everything. I'd be leery of bleach because it kills all germs, both good and bad. Good germs are, well, a good thing.
