I am trying to clean the rubber trim around my 1998 Itasca. This is the trim around the doors and windows. It seems to be hard to clean
with soap and water. Are there any cleaners that can be used without harm to the RV finish.

I have had some luck with black streak remover and the magic eraser. The black streak remover worked better for me.

If it's the rubber trim around the glass I had the same problem. It was BLACK with mold and other discoloration!
I tried all the cleaners I could find (including Castrol Superclean and two or three black streak removers). Even tried a whitewall tire cleaner.
They all helped a little, but it sure was nowhere near clean.
So I took it all out (actually easier than you might think, once you pry an end out it just pulls away) and soaked it in domestic bleach solution for a couple of days.
Cleaned to a perfect white again1 And I do mean WHITE!
Washed the bleach off and put it all back on the trailer. Probably took no more actual time than trying to scrub it in place.
But I don't recommend the bleach treatment while the trim is still on the trailer!

Most well stocked RV stores have replacement vinyl trim in a few different colors. If you find that the old stuff is stiff and UV damaged as well as stained, I would suggest just replacing it. Make sure you take a piece with you, as there are a few different sizes.

One word 'Armorall' tire cleaner products.
Will make the black trim around doors and windows
of a 50 year old RV look like brand new.
They now have towel wipes that come in a canister similar
to the chlorx wipes. Can be found in any auto parts store.
Works great on plastic trim on bumpers too. And of course I
use it on all of my MH tires too, I always have the shiniest
and blackest tires in the CG.

I've had good luck cleaning the trim work with "AWESOME" from Dollar Store. Its 1.00 a bottle so you definitely can't go wrong. I spray it on, use the scrub brush I wash the RV with to scrub it down and rinse. Around the bottom of my RV, below the fiberglas siding is the "cheap" tin that really streaks bad. I've used the Awesome on that also and it works great.

I have tried everything I could find, tire cleaner, Awesome, straight bleach, mildew remover, etc and it helps but nothing has cleaned them so far.
If anyone can find something that will work I to would like to know.

Is it black or white? If black, then use black again. It is a trim reconditioner for automotive bumpers and such. Works great.
