I am about to take my 5er into the dealer for the 3rd time with a blown gearbox on the landing gear. The dealer has replaced the gearbox 2 times. I have asked each time is the landing gear bent or binding some how, they say no.
I am wondering if I am doing some thing wrong when I raise or lower the landing gear? The gear box goes when I raise the trailer to hook up to it. The last time I raised it about 12 inches before it went.
12 inches??? I have been towing large heavy fifth wheels for many years and never have to move the jacks up or down more than 4 or 5 inches. Are you sure you are not running them up against the stops? Doing this would shear the gears.
