National Weather service confirms that a tornado touched down today in Clark County.
I know for you all back East, this is somewhat normal, but we here think earth quake, not tornado.
So far only reports of property damage. I was living here in Vancouver back in 1972 when we had our last tornado where 6 died and over 300 were injured. This one today was only about a mile from my house. That's plenty close enough. Tornadoes, to my way of thinking, are best appreciated from a distance.

Humanity is a parade of fools and I am at the head of it, cheerfully calling cadence.
You know, I don't want to start any flaming about Global Warming and all that, but my grandmother and several old folks around here talk about the year that the weather was more screwed up than it is now.
It seems sometime back in the 30 or 40s, as she isn't really sure, it snowed about 6 inches here in Alabama. I know, that is pretty rare, but not totally something to go, WOW, about. But, it was WHEN it snowed.
How many of you would believe that is snowed about 6 inches, closing all the schools and got really cold........
On the 4th of July.
It's true. We all think this bizarre weather is something new. But, snowing, in Alabama, on the 4th of July, now that is what I call weird.
This story is confirmed by both my grandmothers, several of my older aunts, my uncles, and a couple older preachers. So, needless to say, it is confirmed to me by enough people to believe it.
The only thing is, that none of them can remember the exact year, as most of them were small children or since it's been so many years, the exact year cannot be remembered.
However, they all remember it being on the 4th of July, as it was a typical summer just the week before. Also, there had been a large celebration that usually happened on the 4th where they would have a town singing, fireworks, and the summer bizzare downtown. It probably was like a few of you remember happening on the 4th of July where you grew up.
You also have to remember that just because they all said they got out of school because of it doesn't mean anything. Schools around here back then had no such thing as a summer vacation. Most schools were small rooms with several different age groups, probably like a few of you attended.
And, our town being a cotton industry or personal farms for their living, most kids had to go to school when they could between harvests. So, the schools went year round except on Christmas and Thanksgiving. Kids would go to school after a harvest or after a hog killing or comparable farm animal(s) were made for food to either sell at market or share with a large family.
Now, you think it's something new about all this weird weather now, just think if it snowed in the south on the 4th of July now. Al Gore would have everyone convinced that the polar ice caps and the moon and aliens were all trying to tell us something.

If I don't meet your expectations
Maybe you should lower your standards.
Personally, I think it is just part of a natural cycle of our planet. Hey, the new said today that it was even snowing in Iraq or was it Pakistan, can't remember. I just think our earth goes through a cycle every once in awhile that causes weird weather patterns.
How bizzar weather can you have when where I live, the farther south you go, the more snow that fell last night and this morning. That's bizzar but I cannot see where Global Warming has anything to do with cold snow....lol
