I have the most awesome wife. She was on a waiting list for 2 years to get us a campsite in the California Speedway infield. She is giving me this awesome gift for my 40th Birthday in February. The infield camp spot is for both the February race AND the Laborday race.
Of course, after she presented me with the gift, it gave me a few questions:
1 - Is there anything to do for small children? Is there a playground? Is this really an appropriate environment for a 4 year old?
2 - Are pets allowed? My wife has a small "rat" dog.
3 - Can you ride bicycles or razor style scooters in the infield?
4 - How is access in and out of the infield? Is this access fairly easy?
5 - Our rig is almost 42' long (including pin box and end cap). How lenient are they about spots? Our spot is 40 X 15.
6 - Can I stand on-top of my rig during the races?
7 - I've heard that there is a truck that pumps waste water. How does this work?
8- Can I bring my propane BBQ and portable propane fire-pit.
Last question - Is there anyone else from RV.Net that is going on either of the race weekends? I'm always up for meeting new friends!

You have a great wife.
I am not sure how many responses you will get as it is so hard to get spaces on the infield up there I am not sure how many people on the forum have done it.
I am guessing you can stand on the roof of your RV but as far as the other questions go I am in the dark.
Sounds like a good time though..

Very cool! Thanks for your responses. I've been to numerous racing events (NASCAR, NHRA, IRL, Sprint Cars), but have NEVER camped in the infield. I've always been up in stands.
Hopefully see ya next month.

Oh by the way. You will most likely have to park your truck outside since your trailer will take up the whole spot. There is a parking area just outside the backstretch for that purpose. They open a gate in the middle of the backstretch a couple of times a day where you can cross over the track to get to your truck. You will have a GREAT TIME.

It's kinda funny. Most of my friends aren't NASCAR fans. Now that my wife has told everyone about my gift, suddenly EVERYONE is a NASCAR fan and wants to camp in the infield with us. I already know they need to purchase wristbands to get in the infield. So...here comes more questions:
1 - Is there a limit to the number of people with wristbands that one site can hold at a time?
2 - If people come in on say Sunday, can they bring an icechest, or do we need to plan ahead and put everthing in the camper before we arrive?
3 - Does the speedway have the rules published on a website somewhere? Will they be mailing a packet with all of the rules?
4 - Is there a certain entrance I need to go in with the coach? I don't want to get stuck in regular parking with a 40' 5ver!

Look in this book: Digital Fan Guide
I think the guide for camping is on page 28-29 or so.
I'm heading for Las Vegas Motor Speedway at the end of February.
