You didn't step on any toes. Just saying that Eric doesn't do the mods. He only does the grill and the sewer. That's pretty much it.
I hope you get a good deal on your HTT if you do decide to get a TT. We don't plan on getting a new trailer for some years. Working on saving for retirement now.

My wife spottted the Rockwood 8315BSSS at the Cleveland RV show and noted this is The One -- if we ever leave the hybrid world, which is doubtful until the Class of 2011 at Gettysburg College graduates!
The rear bedroom is a major plus as we try to get back-in sites into the woods or lake. Likewise the big front kitchen for those other times.
I think it can be ordered with a free standing dinette and minimal carpet. We dislike carpet in a camper. Vacuuming is not recreation. A quick brooming works fine.
Yep, the Expedition can pull it, I crawled around back and checked the data plate.
Always something to look at!

What???...and give up sleeping under tentage???

Ok, I like the Rockwood. The size of the bathroom and it's 2 doors are kewl. And I like the sound of big windows and counter space.
You know what this means though... You won't have the wonderful thoughts of frames and leaking tents.
With all these folks trading up, we'll have to just call it the Elk Neck Rally. Which is just fine 'cause it's the same folks no matter what rig they have.
I'll admit, giving up the sound of raindrops on the canvas while drifting off to sleep at night made us think twice. That lasted about 30 seconds, until we realized that we could crack a window under the awning, and STILL hear the "raindrops on canvas"!
Raindrops are a nice sound, but me grunting (as I try to wedge the LARGE rolled up memoryfoam mattress topper out of the bathtub and through the tiny doorway) and groaning (hun, you're not gonna BELIEVE it, but I accidentally pushed BOTH those buttons in on the overhead bar again! LOL!), and Chris mumbling under his breath through clenched teeth (getting the screwdriver, Dear, I'll fix it shortly....AGAIN...insert bad words here), as we put out the bunkends IN those raindrops, clip on the reflective blanket covers, hoist the heavy memoryfoam mattress topper on the bed, take off the shoes, climb on said mattress to insert the reflectix in the windows, put on sheets, try to remember who stuffed the pillows in which cabinet, tuck in the comforter, etc., etc., etc. made the idea of a TT, with a bed that's ALWAYS made up, a dream come true! LOL!
Besides, we still have an awning, and the raindrops sound nice on that, too
There is a dealer in Fairless Hills, Pa (Just north of Phila), that will just about meet RV Wholesalers prices and take trade ins.Brien's RV is the name, I know a few families who have purchased from them and are happy thus far.

Watch the language!!! Inserting asterisks **** in place of letters doesn't make it acceptable... If it keeps up, I'll start deleting instead of editing!!!
Neither The Colonel nor I are willing to give up sleeping under tentage just yet. If we did, though, it'd be the Rockwood 8319SS or 8315BSS floor plan (above). This week anyway, the manufacturers are constantly making new (and reviving old) floor plans.
Fleetwood has a new, hardsided folding trailer this year that's very interesting as a compact travel trailer with toilet, shower, power lift, etc. Probably an old idea revived, but we're going to look at one just for fun.

Well, for us at least, it was a matter of finances. We both started in tents, then had pop-ups in previous marriages, and both lost them to our ex's. When the time came that we could afford to camp again, a hybrid was the best we could do, and one step up from a pop-up. Now that we've got a little equity in the hybrid, and are older, and hoping to make a cross-country run when we retire, yes, we'd like something that is a little less work.
I guess it's kind of like moving out from home as a kid. You start in an apartment, then, maybe a condo, then townhouse, then, finally, a HOUSE. Same idea..... all were functional, enjoyed, and the best we could manage at the time, but it's time to move on and up
BTW...we're NOT knocking ANY of them! We loved each and every one that we've owned, from the tents to the Hybrid. I hope we love the TT as much
Chuck - Trail Manor has one with the same concept, that folds down to a pop-up size for easy towing and can be stored in the garage. It even has a swing-away (to the side) jack for the front which knocks off another 3' or so for storage! The concept fascinates me (just slide the walls into place?!), but I haven't seen one "in the flesh" yet. I'd like to, though, just for kicks! They say it can be set up in like 3 minutes! Yep, I agree, they just keep getting better and better. They're taking the best of the old AND new ideas and making some FANTASTIC campers!
