Compare your 2500 SRW Quad Cab long bed to a 3500 SRW Quad Cab long bed. Understand the only difference between the two is an overload spring on the 3500. If you add Timbrens, airbags or the overload spring you essentially have a 3500 SRW (ok, for the sake of the paranoid weight police you are minus the sticker on your door) but everything else is the same; axles, brakes, etc.
To help you understand weights, here is a link to a Weight Demonstrator, this will allow you to make several comparisons to the trailers you maybe interested in and truck capacities mentioned above. Play around with the numbers and then make a decision you are comfortable with.
Sadly I do think you will need to loose the lift on the truck if you want a fiver.
Take care and I hope you to see you on the road!
