What kind of camera are you using for those great photos? They look very nice. With the skies so dark, I'm guessing you are using a red filter or something...?

Apache Trail can get very TIGHT for some RVs. Careful! I haven't been on it in three years so I can't say for sure. It starts out paved, goes to graded dirt, then starts winding and getting skinny. One or two narrow bridges (one car at a time). Beautiful time is around March.

And. Pat, where is that marvelous ruin?

Great pictures. We rode the trail on our motorcycles last winter.

We're trying to wait out the winter months in Southern Arizona, but really want to get up to the Monument Valley area and Southern Utah. It's just that camping in snow aint all that much fun.

As for camera gear, we use Canon bodies, a 1D and a 30D and a mix of lenses.

Obviously we shoot all digital, so those were taken in color and in Photoshop CS3, they have a black and white conversion that lets you add filters like we used to do in the 35mm days.

and that ruin is Goldfield, and actually had a Class C parked in it on the other side. By getting low enough on the ground, I was able to block out the RV so all you saw was the old structure.

Thanks for the nice comments on the photos. It sure is a beautiful area and we just wanted to pass along info for any fellow RVers who might be looking for a great day out on the road.

Pat

Won't see me driving my RV there! We stopped at TORTILLA FLATS and turned around. We took the car. Great scenery around Canyon Lake.

Apache lake is another great place to stay and is usually empty in winter. But go in the back way by Roosavelt lake thru punkin center and over the dam then you only have to do about 5-8 miles on dirt rd. Take it slow and you will be fine. My father and I go there every winter in 36 foot class A motorhomes towing Honda Crv's and never have any problems.

Pat - PS CS3 is a lark with the Image-Adjust-Black and White! Used to have to use Channel Mixer. No longer. Good to see you are up on PS CS3. I taught it last year (for the LAST time) at the local community college. It is going to be a good May trip! So glad you are coming! It will be nice talking to someone who knows what I am talking about! :^)

That's why I have a 17" laptop and two solar panels . . . oh yeah, and a sat dish for my wife - who is also an excellent photographer.
