We've got a new 2008 Jayco Eagle 341RLQS equipped with GY 16" Marathons that say Max tire pressure -65lbs. cold. Now, it's about -5 degrees F outside and I checked all four and they read 58 lbs. After traveling for some distance, will the tire pressure increase enough because of the air heating up to bring it to the safe level? As you Nascar fans know that crewcheifs will start out a run with the air pressure lower than needed , knowing it will increase as the tires heat up. We will be leaving for Florida soon and I REALLY want to get the tire pressure right after hearing all the horror stories about tire failure. Again, my question is; Should I bring up the tire pressure now when it is extremely cold to the 65lbs. COLD or should I start out a little lower and expect it to raise up to the desired level as the tires heat up???? Thankyou in advance for your help..
Bring them up to the required pressure. On your way to Florida, before starting out each morning, check the tires and drop the pressure as necessary. That's what I do.. it doesn't hurt to have some extra incentive to check your tires before hitting the road each day, and this system is foolproof!
