My wife and I just attended the RV Show in Houston,Texas and saw the Open Range Fifth Wheel for the first time. Brand new company and a very impressive Fiver in the 337rls. My wife loved it. Looks like quality construction and the factory rep was very knowledgeable. We are about to trade in our Prowler and purchase this one.

Just went to their website: Open Range RV - 3 models @ 10740 GVW. That's pretty impressive. Nice floor plans, looks like quality workmanship. Lots of standard features that are 'nice-to-haves' on most other models. (Lockable exterior entertainment area, power awning, slide out barbeque) Nice!
If the price is right AND the quality holds up - They probably have winner on their hands. I did find out they have a local dealer here. We've had our Legends about a year so no plans to trade, but when we think about it, I'll definitely give them a look....

Just noticed that Open Range RV has their website updated (finally). They actually have 4 models now, no weights or anything on the biggest model (I think it was a 385 w/ 4 slides).
Hope they turn out to be a decent unit since my GF and I just bought one (337 RLS).
Anyways, they look like very nice units, good construction and great options.

The wife and I like the rear living room model. We saw it at the Novi rv show earlier this month. The one thing I noticed and is odd that there is no ladder on thwe rear or even an option for one. Maybe the roof is not designed for human load!!!!!

I haven't seen the Open Range up close and personal yet, but read about it in Trailer Life (I think it was Trailer Life) and checked out their website. I really liked it. My neighbors at seasonal site were picking theirs up last week. They were thrilled with it.

Has anyone got an Open Range? And if so how do like it. How does it compare with what you had before? There's a lot of info on their web site but it doesn't say anything about how they are getting the weights so low for the size of the rig. According to the site the fellow that started this company isn't any newbie to RV building.

We looked at one at an RV show recently. The slides are like the ones on MHs with cables instead of heavy gearing etc. This saves weight as was mentioned earlier in the thread.
They are the same length but the different model numbers represent their square footage. The company boss is trying to start a new way of doing model numbers for the industry (good luck with that!  )
We liked it very much. We now have a Komfort so that is our standard. We like the "return" of the all -in- one- room bathroom in the OR same as we have now. (Just hate the recent trend to put the bathroom in the bedroom ) We would miss the tub/shower we have now to just having a shower, but I suppose we would live with that. (we have a bar across to hang wet clothes and towels that drip into the tub)
It is wider than ours too, from just under 8ft to just over 8ft, but I guess you would get used to that.

I saw the Open Range at the Greensboro show and at first was very impressed ... its color sets it apart and the interior appointments were nice .... upon closer look I became considerably less enamored when I saw the slide outs operate on the same cable system that put Zeppelin out of business .... secondly, when you see one put your hand on the sides of the slide out that moves in and out of the camper .... I was very surprised to find the slide sides were so flimsy .... when I asked the salesman about it he knew very little and told me he didn't know if the slide out walls had any insulation or not .... he also said he had on clue how the outer shell which is aluminum would hold up to a hail storm or to long term sun exposure ... to say I was disappointed would be putting it mildly

Well, we picked up our 337RLS on Friday! My finace used to work for an RV dealer here in Calgary so she new the PDI very well! We went through it from stem to stern and found a couple of little things that were damaged in shipping but not really a "defect" so to speak. They were recitified by our dealer immediately.
It was only a 5 mile trip form the dealer to our house so I can't comment too much on the towability of the unit. From what I could tell it was a dream, "handled" well, bumps were soaked up by the suspension and it tracked really straight. The TV had no trouble with it (F350 SRW PSD 4X4) of course.
From a quality perspective... seems very well built. Since it is kind of a uni-frame it seems very rigid and solid. The jury is still out on the cable slides as of yet as they've only been in and out 4 times. First impression is that Randy Graber had his engineers think the cable system through and they seem to have learned for others mistakes. Again, jury is still out as time will tell. Overall, the quality of the unit seems to be at par with the other manufacturers out there. They have thought of some good ideas that may seem as gimicks to others but were added selling features for me (I won't open that debate)
The finish is a 9 on a scale of 1-10. There were a couple of things that weren't 100% right but then again I am an engineer and I'm overly OCD about fit and finish. The TV in the bedroom was mounted a little crooked on the pivot arm but all I had to do was tighten two screws and it was fine, not really a finish "problem".
The plumbing in the unit seems very easy to use (water heater bypass, drain valves, city water fill etc...)
We will be taking out to a campground about 45 miles SE of where we live on April 15th - April 20th to give it a good go. It is a non-powered site so we'll give our generator a bit of a go too!
Hopefully it won't be the inaugral camping trip from hell!
I'll give a better write-up once we have REALLY used the unit.
