Hi,
I just finished making reversions for Utah starting July 6th: 4 days in Moab, 4 days in Zion, 4 days in Bryce, 7 days in Marysvale on the Paiute trail, and then 5 days at Taylor Park on the way home.
The question I have: with the Paiute trail being so large, how can I be based out of Candy Mountain Resort with my TH and still make it around the full perimeter of the trail without camping along the trail or moving the TH from one town to the next? Can you rent trailers there to get to different trail heads, is there an ATV shuttle service so to speak, or can you do legs of the trail, making it out and back of base camp every night?
Also is there any must do’s? This is my first trip to Utah and I really don’t want to miss out on any thing just because I didn’t know about it. I can’t tell you how excited my boys and I are about this. Thanks for all your inputs. Dwight
From Marysvale (really basically where you are camped at Big Rock Candy Mountain) you can make 4 loops out of camp that return back to camp without riding back on the same trail. I have been to the trail a ton of times and not come close to covering it all but even if you are there for 7 days you will not get bored.

First off, let me start by qualifying my experience with the Paiute trail system. I guide riders during the Rocky Mountain ATV Jamboree in September.
Since you will be based out of Marysvale, you will be able to access almost the entire trail system via main trails and side trails. There are thousands of miles that you can ride from there. Most of your riding can be day trips of 100+ mile loops. You can also trailer your bikes to Richfield, Salina, Mayfield, Fillmore, Beaver or Fishlake and experience so many more miles of trails, you cannot possibly see in the time you have reserved. Get a map of the trail system and plan day trips from there.
If you have carbureted bikes you will definitely need to have them re-jetted. You will be riding at elevations of 10,000-12,000' plus. Your Kansas bikes will not run well here unless re-jetted. Go see Jorgensens Honda in Richfield, they will re-jet for about $25 p/bike. Make an appointment so you wont lose valuable riding days for re-jetting. Fuel injected bikes are best performers here and need no re-jetting.
Hope this info helps and be prepared for some incredible riding in the Rocky Mountains.
Dwight just a thought, we were there about the second week in July last year and it was very warm (hot). Normally we just carry water bottles but I picked up a couple of the CamelBak water backpacks, for those long rides in the warm temps these really fit the bill. Also, we had rain too, so bring some light weight rain ponchos too.
Forced Family Fun... They'll thank you later for it! Have you checked out the new RV.net Blogs?
Taylor Park will give you a nice cooldown on the way home from the Utah heat to the Kansas heat. As far as must do trails from Taylor....Mt. Antero; Tin Cup/St. Elmo/Pitkin loop; Flag Mt.; Tomichi Pass/Alpine Tunnel; Pearl Pass to name a few.
