Wildbyon,
I use to hit Taylor during the 70's and have been going again for the last 6-7 years at least annually. It is a great place to ride. I would really like to do this trip in late September or early October but, July is the time.

Here's a pic of the entrance to the tunnel through Zion. They are NOT kidding about clearances...

a45automan: I think I'll have to plan a trip to Taylor the weekend of July 25th, you staying at the campground again?? Anyway, you all have fun in Utah, I think we're planning a extended weekend in Moab over the kiddos spring break.

Jason, Seen your new TV on the forum, very nice. With the F450 and the Raptor, you have some rig. Yes, we will be staying at the Dream Ranch again. Maybe this year we can meet, I look forward to it. Dwight

a45automan, you're trip sounds awesome. We did a Leadville,CO/Moab/Bryce year before last in September and really enjoyed both Moab & Bryce as a change of pace from CO. We did Taylor a couple years in a row and loved it. Last year we rode the Silverton/Ouray,CO area for a week and it just wasn't enough time. We're going back to that area again this year for two weeks. The scenery in this area is a little better than Taylor, but you share the trails with more folks...lots of jeeps, etc.

Something to consider if you have children riders. Under the age of 18 you will need to have rider certificates. We got ours by contacting Utah and having them fax me the test. I gave my kids the test and faxed back the results. They then sent me the certs and we where good to go.

We went last August. Probably one of our best trips. So much riding to do and so little time. You will love it.

wildbyon: I'm with you on the Silverton/Ouray area, miles & miles of riding and the scenery is to die for. My wife's grandparents live up in Silverton so we are up there every summer visiting them and riding. Just a note on the area, you must have a drivers license to operate any motorcycle/atv in San Juan county. So that means no kids can ride their atv's. I still love Taylor though, it's a lot closer to home and the kiddos can ride their atv's.

Dwight,
We were in Moab last year about the same time (goin agin this year). We stayed in Archview, it was hot so we rode until about 2 - 3 in the afternoon and then hopped in the truck and saw the sites. Loved it, we'll be there on the 20th of July this year, leave for Taylor on the 26th and head home on the 2nd. We'll be at the Dream Ranch campground also.

The other Dwight, also from Kansas!

Question on that tunnel, Is that 14' 1" or 13' 1" posted at the top? And I wonder what the height is at the 8 foot width points? Anyone know? We are considering a trip to Coral Pink this summer and wanted to come home that way. Now I'm reconsidering it.....
