Hi all,

We are still worrying about towing capacity ! We have a 2007 AWD Endeavour with a tow capacity of 3,500lbs. The Mitsubishi dealership fitted a hitch but it says on there 'do not fit a weight distribution hitch'. Obviously, the WDH will lessen the strain on the car so we just want to hear from anyone who has towed with a Mitsubishi and how it handled. Also, whether they had a WDH fitted.

We are looking to buy a trailer tent weighing about 2,200lbs,

Thanks !

We have an 05 endeavor. Factory tow package with an aftermarket class 3 hitch. While we dont have an RV that it can pull, we do occassionally tow a boat or small cargo trailer with it. I havent used a wdh, but it hasnt been needed. Not real sure on the weight, but I figure its real close to what you are talking about. It has performed remarkably well. Even including 5 occupants, boating gear, coolers(s) and fuel in the boat. Using the manual shift feature seems to help kepp the engine in its powerband. Very satisfied with it so far. Dependant on your tongue weight, a wdh may not even be needed-Id research that alley next.

Thanks thats reassuring. The tongue weight of the unloaded trailer wil be 256lb. We don't plan to put much in the trailer, will carry most of our stuff in the car.

It may be due to the design of the receiver. Does yours have a strange flat metal bend over the exhaust? That bend may be the weak link. Curt makes a receiver for your car with a more straight solid tube that is rated for weight distribution up to 5000 pounds trailer weight and 500 pounds tongue weight. Look here for actual pics:

If yours has the funky bend, it's probably worth switching receivers.

I agree completely. Installing the stronger Curt receiver will give peace of mind.

The car-based AWD Endeavor should be a good platform for towing a popup, good stability with the independent rear suspension.
