I have ordered a great travel trailer from the dealer. It will take 8-10 weeks for delivery. The dealer has offered me the wholesale value on my popup camper. I've seen the same model for sale in the 4K-5K range.

Question: should I trade it in and not worry about it or should I try to sell it myself? What is the best method or site to sell it myself? I have posted it on our local Craigs list. What about rvtrader.com or other sites? They charge money for listings.

Any advice?

If you want it gone fast, trade it in. I sold my old trailer through craigslist, tried everything but Ebay and finally sold it off of craigslist.

Took about 6 months...

Do you want it out of your hair now or would you mind waiting? It's all a personal choice.

By the time you run an add, wait for calls, show the thing etc..your life will be much easier trading it in.

I have 8-10 weeks before my travel trailer will arrive. The dealer is offering me 2400. I see them for sale online between 4000 and 5000. I'm wondering if I should try rvtrader.com or even EBay?

This time of year, they are hard to sell if you live in the northern parts of the country. It took us two summers to sell our old PU. However, we sold it before ordering the new TT. I would use the 8-10 weeks to take a shot at selling it myself. If it doesn't sell, then trade it in.

I don't know about your home state, but in FL we pay the sales tax on the difference, price of RV, less trade in amount. So, if selling your trade in outright in FL, then you have that much more to pay sales tax on. I had considered doing that with a Class A I had, figured it all out and found out that the hassle of selling it myself and paying full sales tax on the purchase price of the new one was not worth it to me. Just my 2cents worth.

I sold my pup on craigslist. Give it some time, you may get discouraged at times but someone will come along and have the same enthusiasm you did when you bought it. Hopefully they will have a pocket full of cash too. Good luck.

I think if you are not dependent on the case of selling it, then ride it out and test the waters like some others have said. Are you paying monthly storage or is it just to get rid of it? If you are paying storage fees then that is something to consider. Maybe end of February or mid March the twitch will hit some other folks and find your offer interesting.
