has anyone thought about what will happen to those tree after the are 'topped"?

they will keep growing, and might even grow two or more tops per tree. Then who will have to pay for the added topping every year?

look in this day and age with random violence, I don't think it is funny. We just lost a SWAT officer and another was critically wounded down the block from the Cat. With all the random shootings in the news lately I think we need to steer clear of this type of stuff.

Sorry it just shocked me coming from you of all people

Dale, the option is to top it every few years or lose the trees. I would vote to top them

I'm with removing the trees completely. First off, who in their right mind would plant trees they know will cast huge shade onto their neigbors property, possibly blocking satellite signals and in this case access to the sun for solar power. If they wanted to block the wind then they should have talked to their neighbors before planting the trees and find a suitable tree or shrub to plant that would not create these issues in the future.

Neighbors should not be deprived of sunshine on their property even it they don't have solar panels. Lack of solar power causes molds and mildew to grow, decreases life expectancy for siding and possibly roofing material, prevents flower and vegetable gardens, decreases growth for many trees, and can increase depression in some people. Does this sound like a courteous neighbor?

In fact many building/local codes restrict building heights and vegetation growth to prevent creating too much shade on a neighbors property!

I agree, drop the trees.

One on each neighbor. Solar panels are clear, and the lawn gets some instant fertilizer.

I still don't think neighbor A should have to cut our top his trees. Neighbor B is suing because they are blocking his solar power which was installed a few years after the trees were planted. His tough luck. He should have taken all of that into consideration before the installation. Topping a Redwood tree is a good way to make a beautiful tree into an ugly tree.

Living in the mountains we have similar ordinance to protect the views.
I am not sure, but it might be state wide.

Surely someone that drives an electric car and uses solar panels is concerned about the environment and global warming. Seems hypocritical to insist on the removal or destruction of the environment for their own personal gain (to save money on their electric bill). I suspect it would be better to move the panels since the trees were there first.
I'm thinking of getting a satellite dish but I may have to get the neighbors to remove all of their trees blocking the southern sky. And since their house blocks my solar power battery recharger on the camper, maybe we can get the house removed too.

A suppressor is designed to re direct the muzzle flash from the line of sight of the shooter's eyes to maintain night vision. Does not have any silencing capabilities.

I know we are experiencing more violence, crime and deaths than we ever have in this country/world right now. Now is not the time to lose our sense of humor too. JMHO
