You would think that after two years these people would have found real housing and moved on? Guess as long as it is free why move!

The kicker is that they have asked the Government to get them new accommodations...

Yup, and like 'amaze' said, they are now asking for new accommodations --- again, for free.
Unfortunately, we have found many 'victims' have relocated to our area (among many other areas) and have just let their finances go to pot, blaming the storm. We can't get them financed for a vehicle because it's obvious that in many cases the storm & relocation were just excuses not to pay the rest of their bills, even though they are gainfully employed and have been for some time. Lenders are wise to it now, and unfortunately many of these wannabe scam artists are having their little plan turn around and bite them in their behinds!

Well it makes you wonder what level of toxic formaldehyde fumes are in these RVs that we paid thousands of dollars for? We will probably never know because the govt. didnt pay for ours.

The main point is it's taken something like this to get action take on the over use by the RV Industry of formaldehyde based material in RVs. A lot of the material used in the RV industry has been ban from use by today's home builders. Not all the RV industry is using formaldehyde based products only a few who make the cheap units.

All building materials release fumes & trailers being so small an area & closed in its extra bad. These trailers being built for the govt. they probably have more wafer board than usual. Any exsposed wafer board should be sealed with paint. theres many things inside rvs that can cause you problems. most people have sense enough to air out or correct these problems which could be corrected by rv industry. The first disaster in N.O. was hurricane 2nd was govt. responce. 3rd is Brad pitt & buddies wanting to replace shot gun style houses with $$ eco houses. Happy trails dawayne!

I read the article on ABC news site and then read the 40 or so comments that readers had posted. We are nice and polite about those folks living in free trailers, compared to the comments being made over there!

After reading the article I can't see how the formaldehyde used in the FEMA trailers would be any better/worse from any trailer the consumer buys from his RV dealer.

I guess FEMA will have to replace the ones still in service and crush them along with everything they still have in inventory as well.

When the next hurricane hits I wonder what FEMA will do to spec them out differently then they did for current bunch. Instead of going after FEMA the report needs to go after the RV manufacturers.
