Okay it's a mystery to me. I can't smell it, the wife can. When one of us opens the fridge door, she smells garlic. I can stick my head in the fridge and sniff and I don't smell garlic. Any ideas? Sorry no garlic in the fridge either.

Put a full opened box of baking soda in the refer for a few days then have her check again.

Could also be ammonia gas from the cooling system leaking.

Speaking from experience this is what I would suggest you look into. Remove the outside cover for the fridge and check for a yellow stain along with an ammonia smell under and around the burner. If there then your cooling unit has failed.

The cooling tower failed Dec. 07. Has been replaced.

Doesn't smell like propane. Plus we are using electric, not propane.

This is the first time I have heard her complain about it, but she says she has smelled garlic off and on years long before the cooling tower failed. Has smelled garlic smell in the fridge in our bricks and sticks house off and on too. Has used the baking soda idea. That helps for a while. Is using vanilla now. Another idea from someone in the campground we are staying in. The gal smelled it and thought it smelled like fish, not garlic.

I hate to ask, but does the refrigerator need a good defrosting/cleaning?

When ours smells that way, it's usually the olives or dip.
