Bought this Jayco from a guy who gets insurance salvaged units. Believe it or not the burn smell is not an issue. Three windows were out and I do not know how long it has set up. That is all I can figure for the lack of burn smell. No absolute facts on start of fire, but looks like it started on cook stove. The fire spread left and completely melted the sink and burned the cabinet. No rafters are burned, and no wall studs. The fire did bubble the outside skin about 6" x 1', awning has spot burned out, will need to patch it as soon as I find out what to use. Hope you guys are wrong about the price, smile. I will post more pictures, as we proceed and hopefully get the pictures sized right.
I have quite a bit torn out already and I am repairing the inside of fridge that rat made look like swiss cheese. I am anxious to finish by mid April, I am finishing an entertainment center for some folks, then the fun begins. Thanks for all the comments, Happy camping.....We joined the Good Sam club at our RV show recently . Hope to meet some of you on the road. Oh about the wires on left turn light. The seller pulled it part way to meet us and had run bunch of temp. wires to get some ligts.

If you are even half-way handy you can rebuild this unit for less than new. I envy your situation. We bought a new camper, and my wife has sternly advised me not to alter anything major for several years. I think the only expensive parts will be RV specific things like toilet and some plumbing.

If the structure is sound, then it should be any easy fix. It looks like it is more smoke damage than anything. Don't let the others discourage you. You get it done at a fraction of the cost of new and you'll be proud of your work. I helped my dad rebuild a mobile home that was damaged similar to yours. This was over 20 years ago and he still uses it for an office. Keep us posted.

OH BOY. I sure do wish you the best here. It is definitely DO-ABLE but spare no costs and no time. Do It Right!!!!! It will probably be better than almost any of the readers units when done.

Good luck with your project. Sounds like you have made some progress. Know you will be happy to get it finished and out on the road for your trial run. The fun thing about this project is the fact you can make this a one of a kind TT with your own special decorating and refinishing touches.

Once again - Good Luck

WOW....pictures can certainly send the message better then words in the case of the damage to your Jayco. It will be interesting to see your progress on this project....
