Happy 4th of July!!!

Hope everyone has a safe & sane Independence Day! For those of you traveling, travel safe.

I'm sure Santa Cruz will be packed this weekend, but we're staying home. One of the neighbors is having a 4th of July party and our street will be packed with cars, so I doubt if we even leave the house today.

Have a good day no matter what you are doing

Hey Judy, you gotta watch out for those little dachsunds!
"ALTON, Ill. - An Illinois woman says her beloved miniature dachshund gnawed off her right big toe while she was asleep. Linda Floyd told the Alton Telegraph for a story Wednesday that her beloved Roscoe was euthanized because of safety concerns.
The 56-year-old says she has no feeling in her toes because of nerve damage from diabetes. She discovered the toe missing after waking from a nap Monday. She called her daughter, who phoned 911.
A veterinarian says the toe had been bandaged because of a healing hangnail. That might have somehow attracted the dog."

Happy 4th, everyone!

Happy 4th to all!

Congrats Judy on your new job!

We're home this weekend. The neighbors have a huge party w/fireworks etc.

Getting ready for our roadtrip a week from tomorrow. First we go south to Tucson to pick up a new addition to the family, a Chinese Crested puppy, then on to New Mexico and up to Cheyenne, Wy. for "Frontier Days". The first night there we have tickets to the Guess Who, WAR and Atlanta Rhythm Section. They also have rodeos, parades and stuff. After a week there we head to Mt. Rushmore and then turn towards home and hit some of the National Parks we hadn't seen before. We budgeted $2000 for gas, we'll see how it goes. We'll post from the road.

Enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend.

Sharon, sorry to see Bozo go, may he rest in peace!

Joel, that was a terrible doxie story! They didn't have to put him down, they could have found him a new home.

Jim, please post some pics of your Chinese Crested puppy. It's a Chinese Crested dog that wins often at the Animal Planet Ugliest Dog Contest
I bet a Chinese Crested puppy is so ugly, that they are CUTE!!

Jim good luck staying with-in your budget. We just did a trip that was 2643 miles and spent $1310.53 in gas. Our trip was to New Hampshire and the Northeast region and gas was over 4 a gallon. You may be lucky and fuel will not be that high.. Pictures would be awesome. Shelia and I were just talking about 15 minutes ago the fact that we have never been to Mt. Rushmore. It is weird here because they advertise places like North Dakota and Florida to spend your vacation...

It is amazing around here it is still daylight and these people are setting off Fireworks left and right. They are not going to have anything left. There have been a few HUGE booms among the fire crackers and bottle rockets..

Chinese Cresteds are interesting dogs. There are the mostly hairless ones that a lot of folks know, and there are ones with a full coat of hair. They can be very symmetrical and 'pretty', or, with a few twists of the mouth, really ugly! Very cool and unusual choice, though.
Judy, I agree. I was surprised they put the pup down but we don't know the background. I guess the story is kind of funny to everyone except Dachsie owners, diabetics, and the family of the lady involved!
