I saw some pics of a slide in a Roo 23SS or 21SS maybe it was Chuck S's with a strut looking device?? Anyway what is this for?? I am assuming it is a locking mechanism for the slide. I have had two slides in 2 large TT's in the past and I didn't ever see one of these before. Are Roo slides different from regular TT slides?? Not powered?

Are you talking about the mini gutter on the outside of some slides to keep water down the side running away from the unit?

The Roo slides are motorized.
Slide struts are standard. Two in the case of the SS slide.

These are there to keep the slide in the trailer if the motor fails, etc.

Standard fare on trailer without a locking brake in the slide design. My Jayco had one. Be sure to have something around to visually remind you they are in place PRIOR to opening the slide.
My wife and I put the wind chime we put outside on the cabinet above the button to serve as a reminder. It worked.

See my photo above?
Hote the hinge orientation. Outside pad goes on the sticker. Inside pad in the little recess in the seal.

Tighten them just enough that they don't fall out.

We got 2 slide struts with our ROO 21SS (standard equipment), only used a couple times as the dealer said they recommend not needed.
Our Copper Canyon 5th wheel didn't come with them. We took a trip to Miami,Florida To the Orange Bowl the first of January, 3500 mile trip and never had any problem with slide(never moved at all) A GREAT TRIP.

We picked up our 23ss this weekend and the dealer told us they really werent needed too. I havent decided if I am going to use them or not yet. I am afraid of forgetting them and damaging something. He also said that Rockwood is the only one that uses the locks. As far as the slide coming out if the motor fails that shouldn't happen because the motor just drives a worm gear that actually holds the slide.

A dealer states you don't need them?
I suspect my query would be why did I get two and what about those two specific decals on the wall indicating where to place the bars?
I am sure a dealer would not respond quickly to a request for repairs when the slide is in the opposing lane of traffic on a highway.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Reminds me of debates about seat belts prior to air bags becoming an added safety feature. How many times do you hear about seat belts causing serious injury or death compared to those cases where folks have become human projectiles? Perhaps a poor analogy since human cargo shuld not be in a trailer but the philosophy is the same. If it can prevent a bad situation than it is a good thing.
Lord knows the motorcycle helmet debate would drive us all crazy!
