I am going to Glacier NP. in Montana in July. Can you drive a class C 32 footer RV in the park at all? I have a 32 footer Class C and was told there was a restriction from Logans Pass to a campground. Does this mean only part of the road is restricted and if so, is it worth renting a vehicle just to see the restricted driving area?
Big question for us, please let me know. This site is awesome for support!!
You can drive in so far from each side, their is only one road that goes threw the park The Going to the Sun Road, I think the length limit is some where around 20 feet, believe me you wouldn't want to take your class C threw the park if you could, that road is something else, very narrow and curvy a bluff on one side and a drop off on the other, every one should see it, their is signs up where you have to turn around on each side, have fun,,,,,Richard

Are there vehicle size restrictions on the Going-to-the-Sun Road?
Yes. To help reduce congestion, vehicle size restrictions are in effect. Vehicles, and vehicle combinations, longer than 21 feet(including bumpers) or wider than 8 feet(including mirrors), are prohibited between Avalanche Campground and the Sun Point parking area. Vehicle and vehicle combinations over 10 feet in height may have difficulty driving west from Logan Pass to the Loop, due to rock overhangs. Stock trucks and trailers are able to access Packers Roost on the west, and Siyeh Bend on the east.
Glacier now has a shuttle bus that runs across. You could ride that to see the sights. Or you can take the red jammer buses. We did that a few years ago and the drivers make it very enjoyable - plus it is open top so you get great views.
There are camgrounds in St. Marys (east side of park). The entrance to park is just a few blocks from campground. The busses will pick you up at the campgrounds, and you can most likely sign up for the services right at the campgrounds. You can walk to all to restaurants, etc. in town.

The only road through the park is Going to The Sun Road. It is a beautiful scenic drive. I would not want to take a C or even a large car, the roads can handle it, but it would make it harder to pull over and see the sights. No need to rent a car, there is a "Red Bus", convertible small antique rebuild bus, that is operated by the park service (or by contract?) that travels around and over the the park. You can exit and re-enter at will. It stops for wildlife viewing, and gives a guided tour. You will have no problem with the C driving the Southern tip of the park or around town (although it is an easy walk on the west side). I would prefer to base camp in St.Mary's at the KOA. More rustic, yet full hookup. If you can, take a day trip to Waterton on the Canadian side for more splendor. Happy Trails.
Take your Class C to Glacier and enjoy the camping. You cannot take it up the mountain road. The free shuttle buses will take you to all the great spots on Going to the Sun Road. They run about every 15 minutes. I would take the bus even if I had a car. When riding the bus everyone gets to enjoy the awesome views.
You can drivve it in the park but not passed Mcdonald hotel. I think that is the name, it is where you catch the red bus. From this point you won't be able to go to the road to the sun and Logan pass.
