Well I got a Roo 23SS from the dealer that was an unknown vs getting a more expensive unit from a dealer I have dealt with in the past.

Guess what? I choose wrong. It has been a nightmare!!

Never got my trade in check (been 3-4 weeks), no returned calls(too many to count), camper problems not getting fixed, ones that should have been caught ahead of time (return for a 3rd time), getting over charged and having to beg for the money back, no straight answers on anything, heck I even had to go back as they never hung the 21 day temp permit!!

What this all comes down to was saving $2000. Was it worth it? Not sure but I am really starting to wonder!!!

After this deal is done and the last repairs are done and I get my trade in check I will tell them what really think!!

All of my dealings have been with the owners wife, manager and a salesman. Owner has been the worst!!! Lazy inconsiderate and a liar.
to anyone who says a dealer doesn't make a difference should go thru what I just did. I just remind myself that I saved $2000 but that is over half gone in my mind.

Let me put it this way:

There are dealers who could not GIVE me a RV

And there are others I have no problem dealing with.

If you can get a local dealer at a price close to what you want then go for it. Just remember in a year you'll be paying for service regardless so its really not that important. You'll be able to pick wherever you want to go.

I am a dealer and I like to believe the dealer does make a difference! That being said, we have to be competitive in our RV pricing as well. I always tell my salespeople that there is lots of nice looking product in the RV industry and customers can find the the same or a very similiar RV someplace else so one major difference is the dealership and our attitude. I agree with the post that said try to go to the dealer you know and see if they can work on the price or explain why it is more. Maybe you can get close and deal with someone you know. Good luck!

The dealership can definately make or break the deal. They must be nice, good to deal with, and have a great service department in my eyes.

We have a hitchhiker dealer about 50 miles away. We really wanted one, but the dealer acted like a jerk. Went to our regular dealer in Amarillo Tx and bought another unit there. I really want the HH, but passed due to the dealer. We knew Dickie Stout would always stand behind us and take care of things. They have proved that all year long.
In my opinion dealers are very important.

Agreed,

It would be worth spending more money if the Local Dealer

treats the customer with dignity and respect...

Dealers, are well, dealers. Be they dealers in cars, trucks, or RVs. So I go with price, unless I've done business with a sleazy-scum dealer, then I just use them to get a competitive price, then buy elsewhere. Once cheated by a dealer, never again.

Dealer make a difference? In our case it did. We found a pre-owned Itasca Horizon at LazyDays that fit our needs and was basically what we were looking for. Sales guy told us they sold something over a thousand rigs a month(?) Does that sound right?? Anyway it sas a tremendous amount. Talked to a friend of ours who bought a Signature Monaco from there and has a terrible time getting service done. Member of the Crown Club and all that. We started doing some math and a lot of reading and figured we could buy closer to home at close if not the same price and save a lot of money traveling back and forth to Florida. AND, get serviced in and out a lot quicker.
Ended up buying new at another dealer when the sales guy told us we needed to make up our minds if we wanted the Horizon, 'cause folks are here daily buying motorhomes'. Well, if they want it, sell it to them. These things are made every day and there are deals to be had every day.
