Anybody pulling with a 6L engine w/ 3.73 or 4.10 diff??
What kind of mileage do you get towing and solo with what kind of towed weight (actual if you know it)??
I currently get about 10mpg with the lighter TT below with a 5.3L, but thinking of a heavier TT of about 6500-7000# and the larger engine.
As always, your feedback is appreciated!

I have the 6.2L w 3.73 Yukon XL Denali. We tow a 2500 pound popup and get about 11 mpg or so. But, that's with a family of 6 in the truck. We're getting a new Rockwood TT that weighs 6000 lbs dry. Not looking forward to that MPG. But, the tow mode works fabulously.

We are pulling about 8000 lbs with a 2002 GMC 2500HD 2wd 6.0 litre 4:10 axle.
13mpg solo and 8 mpg towing.
I hear the new ones do better with the Alli tranny.
Good Luck!

Don't know about the Alli transmission, they do have a 6 speed but don't think the 6.0 will drive the Alli.

I know you said Suburban but we are close in curb weight (6100# with 4.10 axle) to a 2WD 'Burb/Yukon XL and we got just over 9MPG average on an 1800 mile round trip to Missouri.
Around 12-14 MPG when not towing anything and in good weather.

The 6.0 gas does not have an Allison trans. Only the Duramax and the discontinued 8.1L gas had the Allison. The new 6.0L gas gets a 6 speed auto, but it is a "hydramatic" (or whatever they are designated)
The Allison, even as a 5 speed, is a great trans. Had a 2002 GMC 2500 crew cab 4x4 with the 8.1L/Ally. Nice piece of machinery.
BTW, both that truck and a previous 2002 GMC 2002 xcab 4x4 6.0L gas would get 13 to almost 14 mpg highway unloaded (keeping the speed under 70 and going EASY on getting up to speed)

I have a 6.0L with 4.10 axle in a "Chopped 'Burban" (2007 Avalanche). 13 mpg on the highway, 11 mpg around town, 8 mpg towing a 6,000 lb Outback trailer.

Thanks guys. Sounds like I could get 8-9mpg pulling 6500#. I averaged 11.3mpg on a 17k mile trip with my existing 5.3L and 5500# TT (total average, solo & pulling), and suspect that will drop 1mpg with a 6L 3.73 TV pulling a 6500# TT.
Sound about right?

I know you said 6.0, but just as an FYI, I get 8-9.5 towing 7,000 lbs. with the 8.1 and 3.73 suburban. Not saying the 8.1 is absolutely necessary here, but it is nice to have.
