We had had 25 foot travel trailer Loaded it weighed 5500 lbs. At 65 mph I got 12.5 mph at 55 I would get 13.0 Mph. Our new Fifth wheel Loaded weighs in the 10900 lbs area. I will get 14 mph at 65 and will get 14.5 at 55 mph. this is all once the load is moving, stop and go the fifth wheel uses more fuel. Both were pulled with a 2005 Dodge 5.9 CDT six speed.

I'm getting to the point where my old Unimog is looking better and better. Slow, not good on fuel, but it would go far beyond where a Hummer would get stuck. And, I converted it into a sort of MH.
I just ran through all of the 5ers that my Tundra could pull and came to the conclusion that none of them meet my needs. And, trading my Tundra in with 12K on the odometer just isn't in the cards. Wife wouldn't be too happy either.

Everything else being equal, I'm quite sure you'd get better milage with the TT - I can't envision a 5er being streamlined enough to overcome its extra frontal area, which is the real mileage killer on the highway.

Well, it seems I'll be going with a TT. And, I'm narrowing it down to the following:
Cougar
268RLS
294RLS
Montana-Mountaineer
29RL
Flagstaff
829FKS
831FKSB
829RGSS
Rockwood
2602S
2603S
Some of those don't have the counter space I would like but are otherwise ok.
The Heatland TT's, in the size and weight range I can live with, have some real cheap features. Artic Fox has too heavy of a HW. The Tango is iffy at best. The Tundra TT's, are out of the picture because the mfg didn't go into detail about the construction.
By the time I'm ready to buy, the 08's will be cheaper than they are now. I hope.
