Well, we'll see this weekend how much we like camping at NASCAR. Our TT is already parked at Atlanta Motor Speedway, we'll be joining family/friends who do this 2x a year. We have tickets in the grandstands (upper) for the main race on Sunday ($115 plus ticketmaster's rip-off fees) and the truck race fans are going general Admission on Friday night. We are parked on private property that is fenced off right among the other campers. We;re paying $175 for the weekend spot with electricity (30 amp). No water, no sewer. I have the feeling it will be a good time, but worried about the party atmosphere. It'll either be great or terrible. We'll see.

Just got back from Las Vegas and the UAW Dodge 400. Signed up with Good Sam's Club and parked my trailer 200 yards outside the track with about 45 others. We were in a fenced in area with electric only. Good Sam's had a tent set up and had a catered dinner ready on Thursday night. Coffee and donuts every morning. A couple of other functions thrown in. Full set of tickets at turn four for the weekend. Three day passes for the Neon Garage and if you do not know what that is, look up Las Vegas Motor Speedway on the Internet and it will suprise you. You can look thru windows into the garages, constant entertainment, food, access to pit road, etc. What the future of NASCAR will be everywhere. Walking back to your RV after the races and watching others take five hours to get out of the parking lot is priceless.

I have Season tickets to Richmond as it is the best track close to NJ. I use to go to Dover until I went to Richmond and may go back if they ever put up lights, nothing like watching a race at night. I did go to Pocono last year as I never had any interest to go as it is horrible track to watch a race at even from the stands. My buddy has a an RV and we decided to go at last minute and stay in the infield. We were on a knoll and could see all of the track but the frontstrech in front of the pits. The best part about it was that you could watch from on top of the RV then go down inside watch some on TV get a beer then go back up on top. I even took my kids and they loved it because they could walk around with my wife and see the cars up close and I guess we were lucky because every one around up was polite and courteous. It is something I may do again

That, and the fact that they are plain rude to RV owners, is the reason we will never return to Pocono after going there for several years.

When my grown kids were inspecting our new fifth wheel, one asked why we bought a trailer that sleeps 4. My reply was that we couldn't find one that sleeps 2!

We were at LVMS as well. We were with 1000s of others in the Hollywood RV lot. The RVers there were pretty considerate--only one idiot had his generator running past the 11:00 PM curfew. He was visited by someone at around 11:30 and it was soon turned off.
I showed up with the TT on Wednesday afternoon. My wife and daughter flew into Las Vegas on Thursday night. They were on a 9:10 flight back home on Sunday, and with the traffic they almost didn't make it.
The track had tank pump out and fresh water refills available (for $$). There was a rental Class C by me and they had 2 refills and a least 1 pump out
We did an excellent job with water conservation (I brought 20 gallons of additional fresh water with us)--so no services needed.
We learned a lot from this trip--and if we go next year, I'm going to change a few things:
1. Get a RV spot closer to the track. 1 mile walks from the RV to the track are too far.
2. Send the wife and daughter home on a Monday AM flight. That way they can help me pack up the trailer to go home.
All in all a great trip. We were flying the #88 flag and the #99 flag, so the results were good for us.

Read a story once about a guy that took his 8 year old to a race and camped. He said it was the worst experience of his life, probably because of the "education" his son got from the partying neighbors. Said he tried to get the TT out of the track but was pretty much stuck until it was all over. I can say that reading all the posts has changed my mind as far as doing this as a family event.

Alot of tracks have "family camping" areas and some no alcohol areas. Nascar has come along ways from the early days. I can admit I have been in the infield at Talladega when it was wild and you could see anything that you wanted but it is a far cry from those days.

Wow--my NASCAR RVing experience was totally different than what you read. My neighbors were friendly and well-behaved. The RV lot had signs posted all over that the gates were to be locked until 2 hours after the race. My teenage daughter had a good time with us, and I didn't have to shield her from seeing anything inappropriate.
We just got back from LVMS and are now talking about going to next year's race.

I am pretty sure the guy in that story was at Watkins Glenn if I remember correctly. Never been to the track, and I am guessing NASCAR is trying their best to put an end to it too.
