Pulling a 27' trailer with an Equilizer hitch, with an 07 Tundra.

If i am just staying overnight and can get reasonably level with putting a "little" lift on the front of the trailer via the jack while still staying hitched up .... is that too much pressure on the truck or the trailer??

Thanks for any thoughts or experience you might have.

I almost never un hook for a one nighter. I have Sierra Denali truck pulling 34 ft. Flagstaff. Never had a problem.

No more pressure sitting still than when traveling. AS long as you've level no problem but watch the weather. I stayed hitch one night with stab jacks down, water and electric connected and a tornado warning in the middle of the night left me WALKING (well running) a mile to get to the shelter because I couldn't move the truck. Good luck / Skip

That is taking the weight off the back of the truck and shifting it to the front and to the trailer wheels.....I do this all the time and have done it for about 30 years with no adverse affects.....It speeds up the time to get ready to get underway the next morning....

For quick overnight stops, I sometimes will not unhitch. It really depends on the terrain I'm parked on, and if I can get the TT level without unreasonably lifting the back of the truck. A few inches in okay, anything more and I'll unhook.

I do that sometimes when the weather is really questionable, put my blocks under tires for side to side leval and if I am close on tonque height i'll crank it to leval, unplug my harness as some brake controlers pull a little to light indicator light, and just let it sit that way all weekend,as far as my WD it's no different than towing for 3 days, besides usually you need to raise tongue which unloads your WD bars.

I'll leave it hitched but drop the front legs to take the weight off the truck.
