Has anyone been to the Lost Sea in Sweetwater? Where did you stay? Are there any campgrounds close by? Anything else to do in the area? Family Friendly???
Thanks a bunch!

We have turned there going to Murphy NC from I 75 in a 35 ft MH once and will never do it again. I think we almost rear ended our selves. Never been to Lost Sea but the http://www.cherohala.org/ has a campground close to Tellico Plains in the National Forest. The real curves do not start till East of Tellico Plains.

Hi,
We went to the Lost Sea two years ago and we loved it. We did Dollywood, Ruby Falls, Rock City and all of the other touristy things on that trip, but the kids liked the Lost Sea the best. The water was very low that trip but the fish came up to the boat and we got to feed them right out of our hands. It was great.
We went there a couple years ago. It was ok, I guess. Its privately owned so its purely commercial. It neat to see, once. They had the crumbiest restrooms I've seen. We stayed at Rock Island SP. Like posted earlier, The trip over was wild with all the switchbacks. I would never want to pull a trailer through it.
We've stayed at Black Bear Cove in Benton TN. Not too far from Sweetwater. It's a nice new campground on the Hiwassee River with full hookups to include cable TV. Check out their site at www.blackbearcove.com
Also, Indian Boundary Campground is a National Forest campground on the Cherohala Skyway. It's a beautiful campground near Tellico Plains.
