I had a 99 V-10 2500 Ram and it ran flawless for 8 years, but like someone said it was really thirsty. I averaged 8.5 almost all the time, empty ,towing, whatever. The truck could really haul a load, I think it was 305 Hp and 480 tq. No tranny problems, No engine problems and the truck looked like new when I got rid of it..
Why did I get rid of it? Because I wanted a diesel because the fuel was cheaper..LOL I still love my Cummins though..
One more thing, I sold the truck for $12K less than a year ago, so that's a good price if its in good condition..
Good luck...

I have a 4X4 v10 down on the farm. This is 1997 Model bought it new. At the time could not justify a diesels I have average 10MPG over the life. AT the time of purchase, it had more torque than the Cummins.
We had a '99 V10 long bed 4x4. Loved that truck. It got poor mileage but it pulled like crazy. We rolled it back in 2001 (Black ice) and it was a total loss. I believe if we had not wrecked it, we would still have it. BUT, now that I have had 2 cummins, I would not go back.
