We're going into our 4th season with the Roo and have used neither stakes nor de-flappers. Never seen the need.

We have used the de-flappers on the HTT for a number of years. I think they helped. Never used the tie downs that I have been carrying around since day one. If the wind is stong enough for me to feel that I need the tiedowns then I just roll up the awning and the feeling goes away.

Admittedly I 'had' to buy deflappers and fashioned my own tie-down gizmos but I do not use them. I always buy stuff I don't need!

If it is that windy, the awning should be up.

We purchased the Camco deflappers with the camper a couple of years ago and have used them 2 or 3 times. After we suffered some awning damage due to heavy rain, we now roll up the awning whenever we are expecting high winds or heavy rains. Basically, we wasted our money on them.

I use the same setup as gaffer222, works great for me and as far as roll it up when you leave just to much work when I am on Vacation, Rachets and the spring twisted coil in the ground work great, And when the wind picks up and the **** hits the fan, you better hopes it up then. Happened to us in Mrytle Beach last yr. Frank (Carmine)

Ditto on the wind and closing up the awning. We learned the $$ way the first week we had our ROO - right in Camp Driveway.
