For those who have the Firestone Ride-Rite air bags (part #2400), have you had any trouble with the brackets bending? I am interested in purchasing some air bags for my 2005 Ford F350 CC SB SRW and I checking into the Firestones, but a competitor to Firestone said there have been problems with this model and the brackets bending under load. I just wondered if this competitor is just trying to sell me his product, or if there really is a problem with the brackets bending? If there is a problem, has Firestone fixed it? Firestone has a good name and reputation, so I just needed some help from those of you who have had experience with the Firestone air bags (part #2400) and see it there is a potential problem, and if so, has it been fixed and do I need to be concerned about it. Thank you in advance for your help!

I have Firestones under my truck-

The pin weight on my trailer has got to be as heavy as anything else out there at over 4000 pounds and nothing has bent or broken on my set-

That just does not make sense to me- If there was something bending you can be darn sure they would re-engineer it.

The Firestones are the single best thing I have done to my truck for hauling heavy.

That doesn't sound right to me. I have the ones rated for 5000 lbs and they have very heavy steel brackets. I think if you ask the question on the truck camper forum, those guys would recommend the Firestone bags.

Thanks for your help and response. That is a good idea about asking the truck camper owners this question and I will ask them as well. Again, I appreciate your help on this question as I had not heard about this being a problem.

You weren't on your way out the door when the competitor said that were you?

SMarquez - no, I was actually on the phone calling around for pricing and information. I had made serveral phone calls prior to calling this person and no one had said anything about the brackets bending (or failing) so this is why I post this question on this forum. This is where you can get the real answers from those who acutally use the different products and how they perform. That is why I appreciate everyones help before I make a purchase.

KSam, Like Flyboy, I have a pretty heavy pin weight, not 4k but heavy. I have not experienced any problems with my Firestone's. They have been great. I never trust a competitor trashing a competing product. Like you, I would ask the question of those using the equipment. This is a great site to find out the truth.

Good luck with your search.

I have Firestone kit #2330 on my 2005 F-250 and it uses better brackets on the axle.

Here's the mounting info:

Yes, I installed #2400s on my truck, and yes the brackets bent. They're cheesy, and are made of many pieces to accommodate different height lift blocks. My F350 has taller blocks than an F250. Maybe the shorter assembly would be okay.

I work in a sheet metal fabrication, so it was easy for me to make stronger brackets. Lasered out some brackets from 1/4" steel, and welded the parts together, rather than relying on some nuts and bolts.

SoCalGlide - do you think you may have been over-weight and the bracket bent? I am not trying to get smart with you, but I am just curious. Would you have any suggestions for me on how to get it right? Do I need to get stronger brackets? I wonder if Firestone knows about this and now make (provide) stronger brackets so those of us who don't work in sheet metal fabrication job (or even know anyone who does) don't have to worry about it? Thanks for your help with my questions and concerns.
