Our first trailer was a used one in great condition with no slides but the next year we went and bought new 32 footer with a living room/dinette slide and a bedroom slide. Love it, would never go back. It's amazing how just a few extra feet in width makes when you are in it or have family/company over. Also I guess it's better if you do want to trade in or sell later on.

The real question is not slide or no slide, but how many slides?
Yeah..that's a good question...

I really like the bunkhouses with 2 slides in the back..and I like the master bedroom slide out..and the kitchen slide...and the couch slide..and... how many slides is that. Ohhh..looks like I needs more then. But gosh..with slides..comes extra weight. ouch.

For us, a slide is just a hole in the side of a trailer that adds weight, cost and adds maintenance - and is just another leak waiting to happen.

How many people have had problems with leaking slides????

No leak with our slides. I wouldn't have an RV without slides. It's nice to have all that walking space.

we bought ours to travel in...cant put out the slides going down the highway! really they took up too much space when slid in and we dont spend much time in one spot.

No slides here, just one more system to break or go wrong. First MH had them and while they worked, didn't find them all that much, bought second MH and didn't even have slides on list of features to look for. I've helped three people with slides stuck out in the last two years, not really good if you are miles from service.

....."and neither of us want to spend the extra time away from the fishing poles to set up one or more slides."

Extra time? I can put out both my slides in about 10-15 seconds by pushing 2 buttons simultaniously.
And closed up, I have the about the same amount of room as one without slides.

We have no slides and like it that way. Our floorplan doesn't feel like a hallway because we spent a lot of time planning it to be open and spacious.

If you want to see the layout, we have a video tour here.

Since we stealth boondock quite a bit, not having slides makes it a little harder to figure out that someone is sleeping inside...

No.

Lots of extra weight and troubles for very small increase in floor space, which we don't need anyway.

slides are essential, exspecially in the main area. just 1 slide can be sweet because when you have a couple guest visiting you inside your camper, everyone is not standing on top of each other. I would at least get a slide in the main entrance just for that.
