I was talking to a guy with a Ford PSD at K Mart, saw he had a 5'er hitch in his bed, too.
We started talking about RV's & diesels, etc. He said he didn't buy a Chevy diesel because the engine was made in Japan by Issuzu.
I told him I knew it was an Issuzu design, but he said "built in Japan" and the conversation went down hill from there. I didn't realize how bigotted some people can still be.
My question is, where is the Dura Max engine made?

You've mentioned 3 conditions, that when all are met at once, can possibly lead to biggotry. 1) at kmart parking lot 2) Ford driver 3) in North Carolina. J/K
I thought for a second I would have to sell my truck cuz of the dmax.

To bad you didn't ask the guy about HIS: Television, game machine his kid/grand kid plays with, where his clothes are made, can opener, toaster, his VCR/DVD home theater or anything else electronic etc.
Very little is made in the USA these days. On the other hand the DMAX is made in the USA.
I don't care where it's made...a mighty fine powerplant! Even some of the parts on my Harley are stamped "Made in Japan" Pretty difficult to find anything that is 100% US manufactured!

That’s funny – slanderous but funny.
I moved to SE Wisconsin 5 years ago bringing my Goldwing with me. Being the home turf of another MC manufacturer I get a lot of discussion over my choice of a product of Japan. The Goldwing has been built in Marysville, OH since 1975 with the engines cast, machined, assembled and tested in Anna, OH
They make the worlds best engines in Ohio IMHO
From someplace in SE Wisconsin

2001 Goldwing, Cyclemate trailer and a tent (to remind me why we have the Jayco)

Yep... People crack me up, they have no clue what they are talking about.... and everyone has a reason why they drive what they do...whether they are right or wrong.
