Holiday Travl Park. They have a couple of pools, good sized sites. They also have there own parking lot at the beach which is a big deal as parking at the beach is very expensive. The only down fall is they are on an approach line with a Naval Air Base and the jets came in hard and fast (read loud). They stop in the evening and on week ends though. Over all a very good camp ground.
Holiday Travel Park is our choice when we visit the kids. We have crossed the foot log and camped at Kiptopeke State Park. The park offers great amenities and you can find more info under VA State parks. There's a private campground north of Kiptopeke that is very large. I think it is Chincoteague. For these suggestions, keep in mind that the trip across the bridge/tunnel gets expensive if you plan to do it often. However, the return trip is free if you get a round trip voucher.

Cherrystone is the one North of Kiptopeke. Good for teenagers, pools, outdoor movies, and plenty of other teenagers. Take them to Va Beach for a couple of daytrips. You'll appreciate the area more than busy Va Beach. Better water views than Holiday-L or KOA (who have none.)

I guess I'll throw my standard answer out here, In Va Bch Proper, there's Holiday Trav-L-Park, the KOA, First Landing State Park. You will be close to NAS Oceana, so prepare for the sound of freedom. http://www.htpvabeach.com/index.htm http://www.koa.com/where/va/46109/

Then, for when you want to be closer to Williamsburg/Jamestown/Busch Gardens, there's Newport News Park, it's closer. http://www.nnparks.com/parks_nn.php
