We are going to take our RV from Ca to Ga this June for the first time to Ga to see our Grandson. Going to take the lower route I20 going and the upper I40 back. I see that there is a Hiway 96 from Columbus Ga that cuts over to I75 below Macon. That would save us some distance getting to Metter. Is that road RV friendly ? We will be in a Class A towing a Vue. Thanks in advance for any help.

I'd see no reason not. That road is south of Macon and you will be in flat country. Might have to go thru several towns which will be spots in the road.

Looks like it would save you quite a bit of time. GA. doesn't have really bad roads that I wouldn't take my MH on. MOHO CharWan Happy Trails

GA has a very good highway system and all roads that say GA Highway and a number are big enough for you to take your rig on it. You can go to the GA DOT website and request a free map and it will show you the size of the road by the color.
Where in GA are you going to?

Generally, the GA highways are pretty good. There are some that appear to have been built following an old rabbit trail with many turns. Most are fine.

Hwy 96 is a good road and has been turned into 4 lanes from Columbus to Byron. You might consider getting on Hwy 341 in Ft Valley and hitting I-75 in Perry if UR going South. 341 is a 2 lane road but a good one once U get thru Ft Valley, which is a small town. I live in Reynolds which is a small town on hwy 96 so I know these roads well. Going to Byron instead is Perry is ok but will make U go a few more miles. The roads in Ft Valley are a little confusing but that'll be UR only problem with taking Hwy 341.
