I dont know why in the world anyone would put 2 stroke oil into a 50,000 truck.

Lubrication. The earlier engines like mine were built to run on higher sulfer diesel where sulfer provided lubrication. With the LSD and ULSD coming along the 2-stroke oil, motor oil, etc. in the fuel gives the lub that is missing now without the sulfer. I put a pint of 2-stroke oil in every tank. The newer engines don't NEED it.

The guy who posted that he did this drives a 2007 truck, thats why I asked why put it in a $50,000 truck?

According to everything I've read the new diesel fuels meet the required lubricity standards.

My 1994 CTD ran just fine on ULSD. I never put any additives in the fuel, so in 14 years, I saved enough money to buy a new truck.

Hi

I've had my 07 CTD for 9 months and nearly 14K miles

11.9 MPG towing 9K Lbs. @ 65 MPH
14-15 MPG local driving
20 MPG Highway @ 65 MPH not towing

These are hand calculated numbers.

I spoke with another 6.7L who had over 60K on his and he said these engines don't break in until they have over 30K on them, he said once his broke in, his number's increased by 1-2 MPG

I still have a few weeks till my 6.7 CTD comes in, but I have a couple questions. My TT weighs around 9000lbs loaded, I am just wanting to know if I will be able to tow in 6th gear overdrive? Also when the exhaust break is turned on does it decrease mileage? I don't know if it burns fuel when decelerating with the break or not? I appreciate any info!!

Thanks
Brian

I am in the market for a new hd pickup. The cummins and duramax are both possible choices for me. Any info, experiences bad and good would be greatly appreciated. What about dealer and manufactuer customer service? I have had some unplesant experience with gm's customer service.

Thanks,
dave

Roger that on GM's customer service. They are the reason I'm passing on a Cadillac we had planned to purchase this summer. I have a Duramax with 40k on it broken down 800 miles away. GM customer service has been of absolutely no help. I love that truck, and the engine and transmission were wonderful until this trip. But GM is not admitting to any liability after one of their dealer's changed the fuel filter and told me to "drive it" after I complained the engine was noisy and lacking in power.

I'm thinking of trading the Duramax when it's finally repaired (got water in the fuel on my second fuel stop after leaving home.) Thinking about a Dodge or Ford...........no more GMC vehicles for this boy.

You will love pulling your trailer with the Dodge Pull it in sixth gear no problem...Brake does not come into play until you use it.
