Well Folks,
I've seen a bunch of topics concerning the new trucks Dodge has been putting out with the new 6.7 Cummins . It's my intent to try to get one forum that we might be able to get our heads together and find out what some of us already know ....Why reinvent the wheel.
Since a large percent of us are using these as TV I guess this is the right place for this forum.
Here we go......
What is everyone else getting for fuel mileage, loaded or unloaded, by computer or by manual calculation (mine shows a 5% difference)?
Any modifications to help performance, are they manufacturer approved, do they work?
Any good info we can all use?
Bashers need not respond, this is an adult forum, we are just looking for good tried and true ideas.

Ok to respond first,
We haven't had our TV all that long. Compared to the 1500 w/the Hemi it pulls like there's no limit. Hauling 10k at 60 running 1600rpm is absolutely awesome, and pretty darn quiet...I really like the diesels. DW was surprised by the amount of torque the truck had the first time she drove it in the snow, right into the ditch
We started getting 12-14mpg around town, 16 highway...empty. 8-9 hauling 10k at 60. I upgraded the air filter to the K&N kit and removed the air baffle and mileage went up slightly to 16.5-17 around town, haven't pulled anything yet.
We also upgraded to a muffler delete exhaust. Louder but it "feels" stronger, we're still in test mode.
We run Power Additive w/2 ounces 2 stroke oil for lubrication, I can tell when I'm not running this mixture, mileage does drop off by 2-3 mpg.
We drive our truck like it's a truck and we're paying to fuel it. No heavy starts, coasting stops, and trying to keep near the speed limit, but no so much as to be making a nuisense of ourselves.
A good link for information is the Dodge Forum
It has tons of good information on those unusual questions usually reserved for your service guy, check it out.
Looking forward to hearing eveyone else's opinions and experiences.

I am in the market for a new hd pickup. The cummins and duramax are both possible choices for me. Any info, experiences bad and good would be greatly appreciated. What about dealer and manufactuer customer service? I have had some unplesant experience with gm's customer service.
Thanks,
dave

Mine is averaging 16 mpg now. I'd guess I get 17 on the highway and 14.5 to 15 around town.
I expect to do no modifications of this truck performance wise. It has plenty of power.
The six speed tranny is great. I love the way it shifts and I love that it tries and manages to stay in a lower gear all the time. Once it gets in sixth - it likes to stay there. I like that alot compared to my last truck that shifted like a bunny rabbit.
The lights are very good for driving. My dealers service and customer service has been very good and at least as good as my last GM Product.
Try RainX on the front windshield. WOW We were driving near Atlanta last week and it was freaky. You could hear the rain hitting the window big time but I couldn't see one drop.It must be the angle of the windshield. There was none of the usual beading with RainX just nothing.
I like the exhaust brake - its very nice.
4x4 is very smooth much better than the Chevy Avalanche I owned. You can barely hear it and there is no clunk when it's engaged.
I will be towing in the next couple of weeks so I'll give you a report then.
So far thumbs UP! 5000 miles on my 2008 CTD MegaCab 4x4 Flame Red.

Quick addition, hear alot about auxiliary fuel tanks, here's an option Dodge replacement tanks. Of course some folks use the less expensive option of a bed tank, if so you may want to read this Fuel tank regulations

Howdy,
Only 2000 miles on mine, so far I like it a lot, no problems. Getting around 16 mpg (overhead display) daily driving. Looking forward to towing soon, my 05 Cummins did great so I figure this one will be great too. The only problems I've heard of are the DPF plugging up, but those seem to have subsided of late on the site I visit, Dieselram.com . I had read that this could possibly be caused from using it as a short trip runner and not getting it warmed up completely to clean out the filter..?.. Also had to stop getting fuel at the closest location to home since they had not switched to the ULSD fuel yet, but that problem will take care of itself in time too. Enjoy !
