We are taking a trip to Savannah GA in April and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about or had camped at the Tybee Island Campground?

I rode by one day and it didn't seem like my kind of place but not any major problems that I know of. I always stay at Ft McCallister SP in Savannah

We have stayed at the River's End campgrounds twice on Tybee Island.  It was recommened to us by a friend that had stayed there previously.  There is a good place to eat breakfast.  Seating inside or out. Can't think of the name, on the main road.  River's End was quiet and we will be going back, soon.  You can pull them up on the website.Bill and Sheila

We stayed there last June and will be there again this June. We thought the river beach was the nicest place to hang out and the blue crab are all over the place on that side. We had bad luck at the Crab Shack but many others love it. Enjoy!!

Stayed at River's End in September last and really enjoyed it. Great people and convenient to the Ocean. I agree with Gypsy on the Crab Shack--if you go only order one plate of the mixed stuff--it is enough for four, however, be aware everything--the shrimp, crab, mussels, crayfish, and potatoes taste exactly the same--I think they were cooked in the same steamy water!
Don't miss Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room in Savannah--yes, absolutely it is worth the wait.

We will be there from 04/17-04/20. Looking forward to it. I have heard nothing but good things. But we are not hard to please.

We stayed at Rivers End on Tybee Island once a few years ago. I remember the campground being just fine, but what I really remember is that it was an easy walk to the beach. And the beach there was really neat because it's very close to where the Savannah River (I think it was the Savannah River) dumps into the Atlantic Ocean and all I rememeber is being very mesmerized by all of the the huge freighters that kept coming in and out of the channel. It was a really cool sight.
