I noticed many Rv's going 60 MPH on interstates that are posted 70 MPH. On your last trip did you travel 10 MPH under posted for fuel savings?

Yes. I try to hold it around 60. I've found a dramatic increase in fuel consumption with my diesel when towing at 70.

I travel around 60-65 and have for years. Not for fuel savings but for common sense safety.

We try to stay right around 60, with an average range of 58-63. First for safety reasons, second for fuel economy.

We always try to keep it 58-62 for safety and comfort, unless posted lower or road/weather conditions dictate slower.

We always travel at 60-65 mph. 10 mpg at that speed and no wind or semi problems. Wife has no problems, and we can enjoy the views while driving even with crosswinds.

I will tow at whatever speed the onboard computer indicates for optimum fuel efficiency based on a number of factors. It usually falls in the 62-65 mph range.

For me, 63 - 65 mph is usually a good speed for decent economy and optimum safety. Driving 55 or less may make you the guy that "everybody passes" but also makes you a hazard in a 70-mph zone. I choose not to be penny-wise and pound-foolish. IMO, safety actually overshadows economy.

The big reason Check your Rigs tires & see what tires max speed rating is. Usually 60-65mph & people wonder why their tires BLOW OUT!!
