I use the hitch-up mirror. Just used it for the first time this past weekend. Works slick, but the convex mirror can be a little deceiving. It may appear that the hitch and ball are aligned, but you can be an inch off and not know it until you get out and look. I think I will buy some of those florescent stick on dots at Wal-Mart, place one on top the ball, one on top the hitch, and that may help align better. Those dots are cheap enough that if they wear off from the hitch moving around, you just replace it with another.
Either way, it is a marriage saver.

Lining up ain't my problem. I can tell where the hitch is by looking at the TT in the mirrors. Get both the same and it lines up. Distance is my problem

Sound like you have an excellent back up plan. First use on Memorial Day weekend, if it don't work - bury it.

I use the "back up, get out, turn wheel, back up, get out, pull forward, look for help" method. A camera, a mirrow or rods would be nice.

I have the hitch aligner that has yellow (looks like tennis balls) mounted on top, they are magnetic. One attaches to truck and other to hitch on camper. They telescope up to a height that is easy to see no matter how high your truck bed is.
It works great and with the same principle as the pictures you show. I can hitch up in less than five minutes now, instead of 49 times of backing up and getting out of truck to look and doing it over and over again.
I bought my set at Cabela's online.

Yes this is what my dad bought us. Glad to hear they work well. Won't be able to test them till Memorial weekend.

I have a set that I used for a utility trailer but with bulldog hitch and coming in at an angle they did not work well. Grease on magnet after use is messy. Bought a camera and it works much better. Hooked the camera to the parking lights instead of back up and can check things while driving. I am thinking about painting the TT hitch white so I can see better in dark area.

I just bought a set of magnetic hitch allignment w/tennis balls on top from Herbor Frieght for $10. I'll use those when my son is not with me. When my 9 year old son is with me, he helps and gets me under the hitch the first time every time.

Yes, Harbor Fright has them for $7.49 and when we get back to Michigan I'm going to get a set of them.

Hey, Burbman.....I've got the same problem. I use the frame to line up and I only have to get out a couple of times...not bad. Couldn't we use one of these alignment devices and just open the barn doors when we hook up? Might try it.
