That's what I've always heard too. But my experience with Fords-commercial trucks and vans- 35 years ago- was pretty good. They all were durable, reliable and I drove quite a few...except for one, a Ford E300 cube van that had a C4 auto and the 302 V8. It was underpowered and the trannie continued to break down. Finally the company unloaded that lemon and replaced it with a new Ford E350 dually, 16 or 18 foot box, can't remember which, 460 V8, C6 transmission. That thing never broke down, just ran and ran, often at max load.
Fortunately, the Ford 460 engine and Ford tranny in my John Deere chassis have been doing just fine for over 20 years now.

On the other hand, stay away from FIAT (Fix It Again Tony), but they don't make RVs.

I saw an old step side Ford truck about a year ago that someone had cut the F and D out of the tail gate and swapped places and welded them back in, They did not clean up the weld.
So now they drive a DORF.
Reminds me of friends where the father and son were both named Fred so to prevent confusion they started calling the son Derf.
