Were headed to Alaska in 24 days. Plan on slow travel and getting there the beginning of June. Somewhat aprehensive because if the diesel cost. So what if my 401-k goes down my 401-k of memories will grow. Had planned on going last year but had to cancel. WE ARE GOING THIS YEAR. Ed

We will cut back this year. Short trips around 100 mile from home. The UP of Michigan would be wonderful but I will not pay for their gas prices. If everyone would stop using their gas we might make a point but we are free here to do what we want. $4/gallon is insane amount to pay!!!!!

(Scroll down and look on the right side)

Here is one of my 15 minutes of fame from about 3 years ago. AP did not write exactly what I said but the message is there. And still is. We never really did do 5 star restaurants! They take a one hour phone interview, make notes and then write pretty much what they want!

We are going to CO this summer and plan, at this point and God willing, to do Glacier and the NW again in 2009. Just use more common sense on everything else.

We love the RV travel way too much!

No long trip for us this year, besides gas prices everything else has gone up.The retirement checks don't go up proportionally. We've also had a run of bad luck $ wise and the travel $ had to be used. We'll just wonder around the state mostly. I'm hoping that after this crazy election is over with things will settle down. Ahhhh, hurts my head!! Tough call. I'm working on it but until I break this nasty eating habit I think I'll have to cut some trips out. Hate that.

Hmmmm.......cheap beer? expensive beer? cheap beer? yes cheap beer. Now that was easy. Now lets plan that trip across the country to Alaska. Ive got a week off. Never mind. " Hey pass me one of those cheap beers"

I live in VERY south Florida area and we are still taking our 2 week vacation to the Georgia mountains this year - just like last year.

Yeah, $4.20 a gallon for diesel is the pits, BUT, my memories and my time away from my job is worth every penny

As a matter of fact, last week I found receipts from when we took a trip in May 2000 when we did NOT have a camper yet and that 2 week trip cost us $2400 for all that we did, travel expense, food, and accomodations...
....
HHMM..........I DO believe that this upcoming trip won't cost near that much!
So eight years later, I am spending less than I did for that previous vacation.

So, NO complaints here - I am going.......definitely........
