Not hard at all. Take the overnight ferry from Homer. It's astonishing how different Kodiak is from mainland Alaska, despite being barely 100 miles away. We did the trip last year and would highly recommend it.

Did you take your camper over? I've been there a number of times but always wanted to take the camper over and just take some time see the place via the road network. All 100 miles of it. LOL

You do have company, over the last several years I have built a list of of people from Alaska who are registered here, 70 total. I have talked to many and camped and fished with some. I think that most of them are still hibernating and haven't come out yet. Some are camping active all winter with snowmachining and fishing. We are going to have the camper ready to go by this Sunday then head to Homer for some fishing and camping on the beach.

I look forward to hearing how the beach is looking in Homer...changes so much year to year. We go to Homer over the 4th of July and dry camp across from the lagoon. That is definitely a week I look forward to every year

We plan to go to Homer in August. We went for the first time last year and loved it. We are staying at a place close to the float plane lake.

I didn't think of that! Great idea. Are there campgrounds or do you just kinda boondock it? I'm going to do a little research...

And then tell all! Sounds like a great trip to Kodiak. I didn't even know there was a ferry capable of taking my trailer. Ahh, the things we learn from these forums. ;0)

I'm sorry if I sound like I'm anti-social but....I take my TC to _____ Lake which is on the _____ Highway. If I want to really boondock, I go towards _____ and turn off on _____ Road. About 25 miles up the road, there's a turnoff to the right which leads down ____ Creek. Nobody goes there! It's peaceful and quiet. That's what I like about Alaska.
