I found on the directv website where you can purchase the temporary emergency equipment. It comes with....
Standard 18" round dual-LNB satellite dish
• Receives signal for programming on 101 satellite only
• Metal tripod stand
• Coaxial cable (50 ft.)
• Compass
• Level
• Wrenches and screwdriver
• Installation instruction sheet and DVD
I have a question.... what does it mean when it says "Receives signal for programming on 101 satellite only"???
I would like to use one of the receivers that I currently use at home. Would I be able to get the same programing that I have when I travel? I have directv in my home I know they asked me when I purchased if I wanted the HD receiver and I said no because I don't have the HD tv and such. I know this has probably been asked before but any help or input would be greatly appreciated!!

Most, if not all, of the SD channels are on the 101 satellite. If SD is all you want, it will be fine.

do a search. just give dish/direct a call and tell them you want service. I would buy a receiver/dish myself, not rent one of theirs.

Direc does indeed offer RV only accounts. You may have to make 2 or 3 calls to get someone who knows from a hole in the ground but they can do it..
Make sure you ask about the "Distant Network Waiver" Again, you may have to make more than one call
Nothin adds excitment like something that is none of your business

I have "dish' not direct. I "bought" my receivers at Sams club. nothing in the "fine print" about a lease. one of my 4 receivers is sitting in a closet and I certainly am not paying to lease it.
