I must admit we are new to camping and mostly just camp on the weekends. We have had our share of hamburgers and hot dogs but I would like somehting we can fix easy, fairly quick with few ingreditents and cook on the outside, maybe with the kids helping.
I'm not asking for recipes just ideas.
Thanks so much.

We love doing taco salad! I cook and spice the ground beef before we go and then all I have to do is heat and eat at the campground. You can change it up a bit by bringing along some snack size bags of tacos and mixing all of you ingredients into your bag and Viola! Tacos in a bag! Huge hit with kids. If you have any left over meat it's great in omletes

You like shrimp? We take a package of frozen shrimp and some butter and garlic bulb. I saute the garlic for a minute and then add the shrimp. Stir until done! We also have instant rice and a veggie with it. The shrimp usually will thaw out by 2nd day.

You need some PIE IRONS! Your kids will love cooking with them and the possibilities for recipes are endless. We LOVE to make Pie Iron Reubens, Pie Iron Ham & Cheese, Pie Iron Fajitas, and for dessert, Pie Iron Apple or Blueberry Turnovers can't be beat! Here's a couple of links to get you started:

Meat and veggies in foil packets cooked on the grill make easy outside meals.

The best is chicken breast marinated in some Italian salad dressing. Just put chicken breast in a ziploc bag and pour dressing over it. Put it back in the frig for a couple hours or overnight. Take it out and put it on the grill. YUM!

Grilled Cheese sannies and Tomato soup on a rainy day is the most comforting meal I can think of. Supermarkets sell plastic tubs of BBQ and Sloppy Joe mix to put on toasted buns or taco shells. White Castle "slider" cheeseburgers are sold frozen and nuke them ready in one minute. Buy a whole rotisserie chicken at the super and either part it out or pick it for chix salad on top of a salad or in a sandwich....or better yet on a waffle! Seafood is nice but can stink up the fridge if left even a few hours too long.
